About

Santi Oroz is a photojournalist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was born and lived in the same city since 1994. He studied Philosophy and Political Science at the University of Buenos Aires before opting for a career in Journalism at the TEA Institute and Photojournalism at the School of the Association of Graphic Reporters of the Argentine Republic (a.R.G.r.a.), from which he graduated.
He has published in different national and international media and agencies such as the BBC, Financial Times, El País, Le Monde diplomatique, Getty Images, SOPA Images, La Nación, Clarín, Midia NINJA, Emergentes Medio, Jacobin Lat Magazine, El Grito del Sur, among others. He was selected with photographs of his authorship in the call "Un Dios Salvaje", which will highlight the coverage of Diego Armando Maradona's funeral in 2020. In addition, in 2021, he won the 3rd prize in the contest "Images of a new normality" organized by the Bunge y Born Foundation; as well as a distinction in the contest "(In)security and pandemic" organized by the Security Observatory of the University of Buenos Aires.
Photography, always present in his life, came to his profession as a tool to be close to the events, to live experiences in the flesh and tell stories with the strength and precision that images can have at the time of narrating. His training and interests have always revolved around the social and the human, prioritizing immersion and permanence as methods to discover the power of the tones, the different textures, and the diverse tonalities that the same story can show.
